Nakaizu Winery produces a very rare wine using 100% Marselan.
The appearance is a deep ruby color. The aroma of black fruits such as black cherry and plum and the aroma from the barrel spread.
It is characterised by a rich acidity and charming longing.
This is a wine that you can enjoy for its long aftertaste, including the changing flavors.

*This is a rating when comparing wines brewed in Nakaizu.
■Harvest season
We waited until mid-October to harvest the grapes once they had ripened.
■ Characteristics of brewing
After destemming, the grapes were placed in stainless steel tanks and a highly concentrated red grape yeast was used.
We carried out two remontages each day, pressed the wine after fermentation, and then underwent malolactic fermentation.
It is then barrel-aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels and barrel-selected.
After aging, the wine was lightly filtered and bottled.
*Remontage: The wine liquid from under the fruit cap is removed from the bottom using a pump, and then sprayed onto the entire bunch of fruit covering the top, before being put back in.
*Malolactic fermentation: This is a process in winemaking where, after alcoholic fermentation, lactic acid bacteria break down the malic acid in the wine into lactic acid and carbon dioxide. This fermentation process reduces the acidity of the wine and creates a mellower flavor.
■Characteristics of the wine
The taste is a deep ruby color.
The aroma is of red fruits such as raspberry and black fruits such as cassis and black cherry.
It contains aromas of chocolate, almond and tanned leather from the barrels.
There is a refreshing acidity at the top, and the fruit flavor is strongly felt in the middle,
It has a slightly strong astringency and a very long aftertaste.
