New Arrival: Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024, a White Wine That Makes You Look Forward to the Future

Thank you for always using Nakaizu Winery's official online shop!

My name is Okawa and I run an online shop.

This time, we would like to introduce you to the "Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024", which was newly arrived on Saturday, April 5th!

When it comes to our white wines, many people think of Chardonnay or Shinano Riesling, but we must not forget Sauvignon Blanc.

The Sauvignon Blanc variety is a special one for Nakaizu Winery, as it has brought us much knowledge and growth.

It had long been said that it was "not suitable for this region," but after 20 years of trial and error, it was commercialized as a single-variety wine in 2021.

It's one of those varieties that continues to evolve!

The refreshing aroma, reminiscent of fruit-derived citrus and herbs, makes it a great aperitif.

This is a white wine that will make you enjoy thinking about what kind of food you should pair it with!

This time, I would like to share with you the appeal of Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024!

Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024 Tasting Report

Let's take a closer look at Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024.

When tasting, we will introduce the wines in three categories: appearance, aroma, and taste.

First, the appearance

The clear color is like a single drop of yellow-green paint, reminiscent of newly sprouted young leaves, dropped into water.

It has a strong viscosity and an alcohol content of 12.5%.

Next is "fragrance."

The moment you pour it, you'll be hit with a refreshing citrus scent reminiscent of lime and navel orange.

It has a subtle scent similar to cashew nuts.

When swirled, you can smell herbal aromas like lemon and fennel, and although the spice is not strong, you can still detect a slight hint of white pepper in the distance.

As time passes, the citrus aroma changes significantly, and you can sense nuances like pomelo.

Finally, the taste

The attack is light and refreshing with a hint of sweetness.

The acidity remains in the finish, giving it the crispness that is characteristic of a dry wine.

The aftertaste is moderate (about 10 seconds).

Over time, the sharp acidity disappears and the taste becomes mellow.

Food suggestions to go with Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024

I believe that the appeal of Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024 lies above all in its freshness.

We offer meals that are full of fresh acidity and vibrant aromas!

The first thing that comes to mind is sea bass carpaccio.

We recommend white fish that is less sticky, such as sea bass, rather than red sea bream or salmon.

Simply season with olive oil and salt and sprinkle with pink pepper.

Other recommended dishes include the "Squid Pizza with Lots of Tomatoes."

The acidity of the tomatoes matches well with the acidity of the Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024, allowing you to enjoy the sweetness of the cooked squid even more.

A simple cup of "Green Asparagus Etouffee".

Salt is all you need to season it.

*Etoube is a French cooking technique in which ingredients are braised in a small amount of water and oil. This technique makes use of the moisture in the ingredients, thereby concentrating their flavor!

It also seems to go well with Japanese food, so something like "white fish with silver bean paste" might be good.

White fish with a fragrant, non-sticky texture, such as sea bass, rockfish, rockfish, or filefish, are best.

Adding some refreshing mitsuba will allow you to enjoy an even more complex harmony of aromas.

In the coming season, I personally want to try grilled sweetfish.

When served with the tadezu sauce, the refreshing acidity and distinctive aroma of the sweetfish create a wonderful synergistic effect with the Izu Sauvignon Blanc 2024!

Don't you think it's a stylish combination?
